〈離家500里〉(500 miles)的500種版本
首先請聽鄉村樂天王強尼凱許(Johnny Cash)的長女羅珊妮凱許(Rosanne Cash)的現場演出〈離家500里〉(500 miles)，非常經典。
雖然沒那麼誇張有500種版本，但〈離家500里〉這首歌的版本確實是變化多端， 先聽1961年旅人樂團(The Journeymen)的原唱，該團的成員為John Phillips, Scott McKenzie 和 Dick Weissman，其中史考特麥肯錫(Scott McKenzie)就是〈到舊金山別忘了在頭上插朵花〉的原唱及作者。
一般認為〈離家500里〉的作者是擅長班鳩琴的民謠女歌手海蒂衛絲特(Hedy West,1938-2005)，請聽她在1964年新港音樂節的現場演唱版本
法國歌手理查安東尼(Richard Anthony)於1962年的法語翻唱〈啟程汽笛耳畔起〉(J'entends siffler le train)
彼得保羅與瑪麗三重唱(Peter Paul And Mary)1962年的版本是台灣樂迷最熟知的版本
金斯頓三重奏(The kingston trio)1962年的〈離家500里〉
1963年鄉村歌手鮑比貝爾(Bobby Bare)改寫歌詞翻唱並加上口白，第三段由G調轉D調，最後一段再轉回G調。請聽原單曲版本及歷經歲月風霜後的老年鮑比貝爾現場演唱，歌詞如下

四兄弟樂團(The Brothers Four)的版本也是台灣樂迷非常熟悉的，只是我常幻想四騎士揹著吉他猛然迴身兩手張開邊跳邊唱會是什麼模樣?我怎麼常把四兄弟和四騎士搞混啊！
美國的流行樂團The Hooters 曾經將此歌稍作改動, 為六四的英雄們發聲。
