The little boy went first day of school小男孩第一天上學去 He got some crayons and started to draw他拿了些蠟筆開始畫畫 And the teacher said What you doin' young man老師問小孩說 你在做什麼 I'm paintin' flowers he said 小男孩答說我在畫花 And she said...老師接著說 But the little boy said...但是小男孩說 Well the teacher said.. You're sassy老師於是說 你怎麼這麼嚧

He put colors all over the paper他在紙上塗滿顏色
For colors was what he saw因他所見就是如此多彩
She said... It's not the time for art young man她說小孩 這不是搞藝術的時候
And anyway flowers are green and red 無論如何花就是綠色和紅色
There's a time for everything young man小孩 每件事都有時間限制的
And a way it should be done並且有一定的作法
You've got to show concern for everyone else您一定要體認到別人的存在
For you're not the only one因為你不是唯一一個
Flowers are red young man 小孩 花兒就是紅
Green leaves are green 綠葉就是綠
There's no need to see flowers any other way沒必要用其他方式來看花
Than they way they always have been seen就照著老樣子來欣賞它
There are so many colors in the rainbow彩虹有許多種顏色
So many colors in the morning sun早晨的太陽有許多種顏色
So many colors in the flower and I see every one我看見的每朵花有許多種顏色
There's ways that things should be做事有一定的方法
And you'll paint flowers the way they are你將照這樣的方式來畫花

Frightened thoughts filled his head腦海中充滿著害怕的思緒
And he went up to the teacher 於是小男孩走到老師那
And this is what he said.. and he said這就是小男孩所說的 他這麼說

And they moved to another town 他們搬到另一小鎮
And the little boy went to another school 小男孩轉學到別的學校
And this is what he found 他發現
The teacher there was smilin' 這裡的老師會微笑
She said...Painting should be fun她說... 繪畫應該是有趣的
And there are so many colors in a flower 花兒有許多種顏色
So let's use every one 所以讓我們使用每一種色彩
In neat rows of green and red 綠色和紅色整齊的排列
And when the teacher asked him why 當老師問他為何如此
This is what he said.. and he said 這就是小男孩所說的 他這麼說
